Department to replace books

The Education Publications Department will replace school textbooks destroyed by recent rains and floods, Education Publications Commissioner N M J Pushpakumara said. A considerable number of textbooks were missing while some could not be used. New text books will be dispatched with immediate effect to flood affected districts including Kilinochchi, Mannar, Vavuniya, Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Anuradhapura, Ampara and Polonnaruwa.

The Education Publications Department requested Principals in flood affected areas to inform the textbook requirement to the Education Publications Department through Zonal Education Directors. In line with the textbook issuing program, the Department will conduct a mobile service in certain districts including flood affected districts aiming to identify the immediate study material requirement, especially the textbook requirement.
