Emirates concessions for Australia-bound students
Emirates has announced a six percent concession on air fares to
Australia for Sri Lankan students travelling to the continent in May to
July this year for higher education.
The introduction of this special fare coincides with the Australian
Education Excellence Showcase 2011 in Colombo, of which the
award-winning Dubai-based international airline is an Associate Partner.
Twenty Seven leading Australian Universities and vocational
institutions are to be featured at the Australian Education Excellence
Showcase, organised by the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) with
the support of the Australian High Commission.
Seminars and presentations by the participating educational
institutions will be held on March 1 and 2 at the Cinnamon Lakeside
Hotel Colombo, from 10.00 am to 6.00 pm for the benefit of Sri Lankan
students who go to receive higher education in Australia.
Every year, nearly 3,000 Sri Lankan students travel to Australia in
pursuit of higher education, for post-graduate studies as well as for
diploma courses.
"The introduction of this special fare compliments our support to the
first ever Australian Education Showcase by the Australian Government,"
said Emirates Sales Manager (Sri Lanka) Devika Ellepola. "Emirates has
consistently facilitated the travel of students going overseas for
higher studies and this special concession is the latest such
initiative," she further said. Emirates had previously introduced
special fares for Sri Lankan students travelling to London and
Manchester in the UK. The special discounted fare will be available for
direct purchases from the Emirates office in Colombo, from May 1 to June
15 and will be valid for outbound travel between May 15 and July 15.
