No damage from floods

No damage was caused to archaeological sites by recent floods in the country, Archaeology Department Director General Dr Senarath Dissanayake told the Daily News yesterday.

He said that Deegawapiya Museum was inundated by the floods and an assessment was conducted after the water receded. "The assessment confirmed that no considerable damage was caused to the museum. "We have also informed provincial officials to report if archaeological sites in areas such as Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa were affected since those areas were severely affected by floods.

However we still did not receive any such report, " he said.
