Two Lankans die in India

Two Sri Lankan pilgrims died while trekking in the hills in Bihar’s Gaya and Nalanda districts yesterday, official sources said.

Widanapathirananawati, 61, collapsed and died when she was trekking in Ghumgeshwari hill in Gaya district, sources said. Another Sri Lankan pilgrim, also died following breathlessness while trekking in the Gidhkut hill at Rajgirh in adjoining Nalanda district, the police said.

The bodies were brought to Indian Mahabodhi Society. The district authorities have approached Sri Lankan High Commission and their relatives to take back the bodies. They were part of 50-member team of Sri Lankan pilgrims touring Buddhist centres in India.
