At this two-pronged competition, 20 novice inventors will be in the limelight to exhibit their findings and projects. Ten of them have been identified and selected from the prestigious ‘Junior Inventor of the Year’ (JIY) competition 2010, conducted by the IESL. The other ten contestants have been chosen by the NSF from its activities such as the Science Research Project Competition (SRPC, conducted to popularize science and inculcate scientific thinking, among the school going fraternity.

Three of the best exhibitors picked from this SLSEF competition, will represent Sri Lanka at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) to be held in USA, later this year. These three winners and one Adult-in-charge, from the NSF/IESL, will be sponsored to the Intel ISEF, in the US. Intel ISEF is the world’s largest, annually-held pre-collegiate celebration of science. It brings together more than 1200 students from over 40 nations, to compete for over 900 prizes. Prizes worth over US $ four million, will be distributed among the winners, in scholarships, tuition grants, internships, scientific field trips and other prizes.

National Awards, Merit Awards and International certificates will be awarded to the students, based on the evaluation of their projects. International certificates will be awarded for projects conducted under specific fields.
