Four suspects nabbed

The Wellampitiya Police have received information that cattle are slaughtered by shooting and the beef are being sold unlawfully. According to information received the Police was able to apprehend 4 suspects while they were loading a cattle head into a tractor.

When questioned by the Police the suspects had admitted that more than 1,000 heads of cattle had been transported to a place at Moratumulla and sold at various prices. The 4 suspects were residents of Panadura, Beruwala and Moratuwa. The main suspect was in hiding.

A team of Police officers under the direction of Wellampitiya OIC Police Inspector Ranjith Samaranayake on the instructions of Superintendent of Police Tennakone in charge of the Nugegoda area made the detection.


Jewellery thief apprehended

The Crime Detection Unit of the Kandy area yesterday arrested a person who was suspected to have robbed valuable jewellery from women who are coming after work from State or Private sector establishments.

The Police said that the suspect had used a Motor bike to get away after his robberies. The police also found 3 gold necklaces suspected to have been robbed from women after threatening. The OIC Inspector Jayasiri Amarasinghe and a team of Police officers made the detection.


Filling station employee wanted for swindling

A Manager of a filling station in the Teldeniya town is wanted by the Teldeniya Police Headquarters as he was suspected to have fled the area after playing out Rs 650,000 from the filling station. Chief Police Inspector Chaminda Dharmaratne said that a comprehensive investigation was being held as this person is suspected to have changed various documents relating to the filling station.

Even prior to this incident a fraud of 4 million rupees had taken place at this filling station.
