Pakistan donates flood relief

The Pakistan High Commissioner Seema Ilahi Baloch handed over the
emergency relief items such as tents, blankets and dry foods worth over
Rs 11.2 million, to Law and Justice Minister Rauf Hakeem yesterday for
flood victims.

A large number of people in North, Eastern, Central part of the
country have been displaced and several people have died due to the
recent flood. Pakistan itself has suffered from the floods which had
affected over 20 million people and damaged a huge amount of crops.
The Civilizational links between Pakistan and Sri Lanka date back to
the dawn of Buddhism. Since establishment of diplomatic relations
between Pakistan and Sri Lank in 1948, the countries have consistently
maintained close,cordial and mutually supportive relationship. Those two
countries are upholding their friendship and have been helpful to each
other during difficult times.
Pakistan and Sri Lanka being located in the South Asian region and
being members of various regional and international bodies such as SAARC
, UN are mutually important for each other.
The relationship between Pakistan and Sri Lanka is based on mutual
trust and commonality of interest in maintaining regional peace,
security and stability. Pakistan has always supported the unity,
territorial integrity and sovereignty of Sri Lanka. |
