Vocational training:

School leavers benefit

The Government will recruit school leavers and school dropouts for vocational training courses under a program scheduled to be implemented by the Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Ministry.

Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Minister Dilan Perera told the media recently that school dropouts and school leavers should not be isolated.

They must be given comprehensive training on vocational fields to enable them to find employment in the country and abroad.

He said school leavers must be given training on subjects such as English language and Information Technology considering that a large number of employment opportunities related to IT.

The Minister said the programs would be started in collaboration with the Youth Affairs and Vocational Training Ministry and the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment.
