Jana Sevana draws attention
Viewers of Deyata Kirula 2011 exhibition in Buttala is specially
drawn to the exhibition stall of the National Housing Development
Authority (NHDA) in the display area of the Construction, Engineering
Services, Housing and Common Amenities Ministry. Jana Sevana one million
housing program and other housing programs implemented by the Government
under the housing and settlement development program is vividly
displayed in this exhibition hall.
The viewers' attention was specially drawn to the low cost house,
constructed at a cost of Rs 150,000 in a short period of 10 days using
local materials and traditional technology. This house has been built in
an environmental friendly manner using raw materials found in Monaragala
district and utilizing the labour of the area. This house consists of
all essential basic components and has been built using several soil
types found in that area with the minimum use of cement and sand. NHDA
has already built 50 houses in Horambawa village using this low cost
technology.
The display area of models and structures of settlement and housing
development with the evaluation of mankind is another area that
attracted viewers. |
