Flood affected get vaccines

The Health Ministry Epidemiology Unit sent 100,000 Typhoid vaccines to flood affected areas yesterday. The vaccine is to be given to the flood affected people under the supervision of MOHs, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the MOHs will decide the areas that is needed to be covered by the vaccination program. Flood affected people without clean drinking water and sanitation will be given the Typhoid vaccine.

The Health Ministry has made arrangements to face any type of epidemic outbreak in flood affected areas. Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has issued instructions to health officials to provide uninterrupted medical services for flood victims in all flood affected areas, he added.
