Johnston pays
surprise visit to Welisara Economic Centre:
Manager missing, services suspended
Co-operative and Internal Trade Minister Johnston Fernando made a
surprise visit to the Welisara Economic Centre Wednesday and found that
the Centre's Manager had closed the office and gone home.
The Centre was untidy and the Minister took prompt action to suspend
the Manager's services. Fernando who inquired about the Centre's
administration immediately ordered the removal of unlawful constructions
and warned the authorities that action would be taken to vest the trade
stalls in the Ministry if no action was taken to open them.
He also gave an alternation to clean the Economic Centre within three
days.
Minister Fernando also ordered Consumer Services Authority Chairman
Roomy Marzook to take immediate action against the trade stalls where
price lists are not displayed. |
