“As an old girl of Buddhist Ladies’ College, I recall the immense
support that I received from the aesthetic and the academic staff to
achieve my goal in the aesthetic field. The solid foundation laid by
them has enabled me to reach the position of Senior Lecturer and Head of
the Department.”
“To create the self esteem of a student, it is important that she/he
plays an active role in aesthetic studies. Therefore, it is the duty of
the teachers to guide her/him to achieve this,” Principal Malini
Kotelawala said. Buddhist Ladies’ College caters to all communities and
has at present 800 students from Montessori to primary to Grade 13 and
follow the syllabus of the Education Department.
The school which has both Sinhala and English streams has succeeded
in bringing up generations of students who have given much back to
society in the sphere of the performing arts. Some of the past pupils
who have had great success in this area are Somalatha Subasinghe,
Deepani Silva, Padmini Divithurugama, Supriya Abeysekera and Indunil
Dissanayake. |
