‘So to all of you celebrating Valentine’s Day - Happy Valentine’s Day - and to the ones who are not having a valentine…well don’t sulk and wait…you got your parents, siblings, friends and pet to show how much you love them. Do something for them, get them something or just stay home for once and spend some quality family time’

Valentine’s Day – yet another hit making day in the calendar that gets hearts swaying to and fro to prove their love to their partner makes its way to us in a few days time. Already many places are getting ready to give the lovers a night to remember under the starry electric and night skies.

But do remember that Valentine’s Day isn’t just a day for lovers; it’s a day for everyone, even your pet! I sure love my little doggy girl very much and I don’t need a Valentine’s Day to show her how much I love her but I guess the day does add more power to the heart and mind when you show someone how much you care for them and appreciate them.

Galle Face Hotel: If you feel like heading into a totally new experience, step into the “Cupid Twenty 11” Dinner Dance party with Anno Domini live in action at the Grand Ballroom of the Galle Face Hotel.

Plus there are other great events as well such as Valentine’s Day Family brunch on February 13 from 11.30 am to 3 pm, Love in Harmony at The 1864 offering an exclusive romantic seven course sit down dinner and a Night of Romance at the Sea Spray restaurant overlooking the Indian Ocean that will offer a spread of culinary delights ranging from the best Seafood to the finest cut of meat prepared just for two on February 14 from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm.

Ceylon Continental Hotel: Couples will be treated to a five course sit down menu with themed dishes and complimentary champagne cocktails at the Ceylon Continental’s Pearl

Restaurant from 7.30 pm to 10.30 pm. Every Lady will be given a red rose at the entrance.

One of the deliciously inviting dishes include a spectacular seafood variety of lobster medallion, marinated tiger prawns wrapped with smoked salmon, alligator pear sushi roll and crunchy greens – titled the “Be My Valentine” starter.

Guests will be entertained by live band music, which will complete the promotion’s dedication to Valentine’s Day. Free photograph of every couple will be given at the event, the Hotel said.

Hilton Colombo Residencies: Beginning on the day of love, Union Bar & Grill (UBG) will open out a buffet created by their chefs. One can choose from salads, international mains, grilled delights and a wide range of desserts (that sure are DELICIOUS) for you and your partner or even a bunch of your colleagues from 12 noon to 3 pm.

For dinner – the UBG will change its colour and settings to set the mood just right for you and your partner to enjoy in your own cozy reserved area with music to make the night just perfect from 7 pm to 11 pm.

You can always start ‘showing’ way before the set date by sending her specially made cake or box of chocolates to show how much you love her me available from February 7 to the 15.
