Market up

The Colombo bourse closed high yesterday with noticeable bulk, high networth, retail and institutional transactions.

The Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) All Share Price Index (ASPI) closed at 7,493.62 points up by 116.18 points, while Milanka Price Index (MPI) closed at 7,230.35 points. The turnover for the day was over Rs 4.9 billion.

Yesterday's top gainers were Commercial Bank, Ceylon Grain Elevators, Colombo Fort Land and Building, Royal Ceramics Lanka and Hemas Holdings.

With companies publishing their quarterly results, the turnover and ASPI index have shown a notable growth.

There were 11 bulk transactions worth over Rs 20 million from Commercial Bank (1), Ceylon Grain Elevators (2), Royal Ceramics Lanka (3), Hemas Holdings (1), Nawaloka Hospitals (1), Sampath Bank (1) John Keells Hotels (1) and Lanka Walltiles (1).
