Rs 100 m to rebuild flood-hit houses

The National Construction Association will grant Rs 100 million to reconstruct the houses which have been damaged due to the floods and earthslips.

This decision was taken after a meeting held with Construction, Engineering Services and Housing and Common Amenities Minister Wimal Weerawansa, representatives from the National Construction Association and District Managers and Technical Officers at the National Housing Development Authority yesterday . The Minister said preliminary arrangements are being made to reconstruct the houses. According to the Disaster Management Centre at least 22,000 houses have been damaged.

The Minister has invited the business community to assist the people to reconstruct their houses. They can contribute toward the Sevana funds to the account 204100110085283 at the People's Bank Head Office or supply material to rebuild the houses.
