Renuka Hotel chain is in the process of identifying a suitable land
within the Colombo City limit to build a four-star hotel.
Renuka City Hotel reopened its doors with a new look adopting the
theme "Rediscover Renuka." The refurbishment of the hotel was done with
a total investment of Rs 125 million. Construction work was done in
three months.
In addition Renuka City Hotels will build a swimming pool,
well-quipped fitness centre and staff facilities with a total
investments of Rs 50 million. Construction work of these three projects
will be completed by August, Renuka Hotels Ltd, Renuka City Hotels
Chairman and Managing Director Ravi Thambiayah told Daily News Business.
The main objective of the refurbishment of the hotel was to cater to
the influx of the tourist arrivals to the country while fulfilling their
changing needs. The Hotel is now equipped with modern amenities which is
capable of providing world-class facilities and services to the diverse
clientele at best value.
Thambiayah hailed the minimum room charges, implemented by the
Government last year saying that it has managed to eliminate the price
war among hotels in Colombo.
"Attracting 2.5 million tourists to the country by 2016 is an
achievable target. However the Government has to work cautiously when
granting permission to build more hotels in the city. When granting
permission to build hotels, it should be done in a selected manner,"
Thambiayah said.
