Navy continues flood relief operations

Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) is engaged in flood relief assistance operations to save lives and to provide relief assistance to the affected people. Accordingly seven flood relief teams have been deployed in the Batticaloa district and another seven flood relief teams are operating in the Trincomalee district.

In the Polonnaruwa district, six flood relief teams are continuing relief operations while 18 flood relief teams have been deployed in the Anuradhapura district. Matale and Puttalam too have flood relief teams. In addition, emergency flood relief teams are kept standby in the Naval bases for contingency deployment.

The Navy is monitoring the flood situation and is in constant contact with the Disaster Management officials and Government institutions for smooth relief measures.

The Navy is continuing its rescue operations to save the lives and to provide assistance to the people affected by the floods utilizing its assets and expertise on humanitarian grounds.
