With heavy rains lashing across in the hill capital for the fourth
successive day, the chances of schools completing their cricket fixtures
before the official deadline appears to go haywire.
This wet weather conditions according to many is about the worst in
about 25 years or more during the cricket seasons.
Even if the rains cease the schools will be put into a tough
situation in re-arranging their cricket fixtures as their opponents
should be also free and also looking for venues.
Though we are in February the all conquering Trinity College have
played only two matches in January - Mahanama College in Kandy and St.
Joseph's College in Colombo.
Their matches against Dharmaraja College, Maris Stella College,
Ananda College, and Richmond College had been postponed. Their match
against Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda scheduled to be played at
Asgiriya stadium was shifted to Galle Stadium to avoid the wet weather,
but it rained there too, and was not played.
St Anthony's College have this year played just two matches - winning
against St Sylvester's College and losing to St. Sebastian's College.
The other matches could not be played.
Dharmaraja College had to postpone their matches against Trinity
College, St Anthony's College and the game against Revatha Vidyalaya
could not be played and no play was possible in their match against
Dharmapala Vidyalaya, Pannipitiya.
This year they played Joseph Vaz College, Royal College in Colombo
and only Mahinda College in Kandy. |
