The under 19 division III cricket match between Buddhajayanthi MV Balangoda and Theraputta National School Ambalantota played at the Ananda Maithriya National School grounds in Balangoda was restricted to the first days play only. The authorities of Ananda Maithriya NS who had accepted the booking made on January 22 and 23 by the home team did not permit the match to be continued on the second day and used the grounds for an under 13 match between Ananda Maithriya NS and Kuruvita Central College, Ratnapura. Batting first Theraputta made 263 in 64 overs. A P Athri Nadishan top scored with 67, T Shiran took 4/40.

Sri Buddhajayanthi MV were 183/3 from 36 overs at the end of the first day's play. I Prasanga was unbeaten on 83 and I Srimal was unbeaten on 44. Prasanga may have been deprived of a century due to the unsporting stand taken by the ground management. The match was called off after the first day's play.
