Theraputta National School playing their maiden under 19 cricket
match in Group one of the Division III tournament conducted by the Sri
Lanka Schools Cricket Association were unfortunate to loose to St
Aloysius College Ratnapura by six wickets. The match was played on the
Seevali MV grounds in Ratnapura recently.
St Aloysius invited Theraputta to bat first. H P Kasun Caldera scored
his maiden half century in under 19 cricket by making 51 which included
ten hits to the ropes. Dinesh Madushan scored 37. L de Silva claimed
four wickets for 41.
Dilip Chandana (4/35), Suresh Kodituwakku (3/50) and Pramod Madushan
(2/29) restricted the St Aloysius first innings to 156/10 in 37 overs. A
G Kapuge scored 68 which had 5 boundaries and 3 sixes.
In their second innings Theraputta faired badly with L de Silva
claiming 4/25 and S Sanjaya claiming 4/27. They were bowled out for 77
runs of which Kasun Caldera scored 35.
Set a target of 96 to win St Aloysius cruised home with six wickets
in hand. Yasoda Eranjith (35) and M M Kiriella (23) did most of the
scoring. Suresh Kodituwakku continued his good bowling form by claiming
3/35.
