Deyata Kirula Cycle Tour:
Soldier Sisira Kumara overall champ

Asela Sisira Kumara (SL Army) won the overall championship of Deyata
Kirula Cycle Tour which concluded in Buttala yesterday. He took 10 hours
47 . 47 seconds to complete all three stages which spanned over 410.4
kms. Sarathkumara of SL Navy finished the race in 10h:52m:53secs to win
the second place while Suwaris Premachandra (Dehiwala Mount Lavinia MC)
became third clocking 10h:52m:58secs.
Buddhika Warnakulasuriya (SL Air Force) won the 139.4 kms long third
stage in 3h:52m:30secs. Sumithra Fernando (Super Weelers SC) and
Mohommad Saif (SL Police) crossed the finish line in 3h:54m:46s clinched
the second and third places in the final stage.
The Team Championship went to SL Army A-team. The final stage
proceeded through Pelmadulla, Balangoda, Belihuloya, Beragala, Koslanda,
Wellawaya to Buttala. For this stage 61 riders faced the starter's
orders.
Meanwhile a women's standard race too was conducted from
Siyambalanduwa to Buttala covering a distance of 53 kms where 3 cyclists
took part in the race. SL Navy's Lasanthi Gunatilleke finished the race
in 1 hours and 38 minutes to become the winner while Mayumi Kumari
Bandara (Lihini SC, Dehiattakandiya) who completed the race in
1h:41m:02secs. came second and Niluka Shamalee (Saama SC, Moratuwa)
clocked 1h:44m:03secs. to take the third slot.
The awards will be presented on the final day of the Deyata Kirula
Exhibition on February 10. Development Lotteries Board and DSI (Pvt) Ltd
sponsored the Deyata Kirula Cycle Tour.
