Government - TNA dialogue continues

The long-term Reconciliation Committee comprising representatives of the Government and the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) met again yesterday.

It continued its discussions of the matters which have been raised at the first meeting held on January 10, 2011.

The Government of Sri Lanka delegation made available several items of information which had been requested by the Tamil National Alliance delegation on the previous occasion.

“Further matters were raised, the GOSL, delegation undertook to respond after consultation with the appropriate authorities,” said a press release issued by the Committee Secretary Sajin Vass Gunawardena.

“With regard to the Constitutional issues a structured dialogue commenced and will continue.

The next meeting will take place during the first week of March 2011,” it further said.

Ministers Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka, Nimal Siripala de Silva, G L Peiris and Sajin de Vass Gunawardena MP represented the Government.

Parliamentarians Mavai Senathirajah, M Sumanthiran, Suresh Premachandran and President’s Counsel K Kanag-Isvaran represented the Tamil National Alliance.
