People will support UPFA en masse - Azwer
The massive development schemes initiated by the Mahinda Rajapaksa’s
regime have received tremendous support at the grassroots level
throughout the island. As a result the rural folks are eager to develop
their villages through the Government’s efforts.
It is therefore crystal clear that all the people of this country who
are eager to enjoy the fruits of development would en masse support the
United People’s Freedom Alliance candidates in all the Pradeshiya Sabha
elections, Parliamentarian A H M Azwer said.
He was speaking at a meeting after opening a pre-school at Anguluwila
in the Puttalam electorate.
Arachchikattuwa Pradeshiya Sabha Chairman Jagath Saman presided. He
said at every election UNP begins their campaign by shouting that that
would be the election which would fire the first shot (Wedi Muraya) to
send this government home. But, for the last 17 years, after counting
the votes it was the UNP and its allies that got the first shot and were
quickly dispatched home lock stock and barrel.
The UNP is facing another severe defeat for the 18 times at the
forthcoming Pradeshiya Sabha elections, he asserted.
The Muslims of this country cannot be fooled any more by the UNP
which has once again formed a so-called Muslim unit for luring the
Muslim votes. What has happened to the earlier Muslim unit formed by
Ranil Wickremesinghe? It is after that earlier formed Muslim unit,
people of the calibre of A C S Hameed was left in the lurch and Mps A R
M A Cader, Naoshshad Majeed, Hilmy Careem, Omar Kamil, Abdul Sattar,
Fousal Niyas, Raja Yoosuf and a host of other diehard UNP Muslims left
the party including myself and are now vigorously engaged in helping the
Mahinda Rajapaksa regime, Azwer said.
The President has strictly advised all UPFA Parliamentarians to
always be with the people and take to grassroots level the various
development works of the Government as precisely mentioned in the
Mahinda Chintana, he said.
”I have been earlier spending all my decentralized budget funds for
Puttalam for 15 continuous years.
”As a partner in the Mahinda Rajapaksa Government, I am always
commited to serve the people, he asserted.
North Western Province Minister Sarath Nishantha, Aratchikattuwa PS
Chairman Jagath Saman, C M M Shareef ex-member of the Arachchikattuwa PS
and several others also spoke.
Parliamentarian Azwer also visited the Bandaranaike school at
Tharavilluwa.
The Principal H M D Wickrama Herat said it was the first time after
45 years a Member of Parliament has allocated funds for a new building
at Bandaranaike Maha Vidyalaya, Tharavilluwa, Battuluoya.
Azwer also visited the Sasanarakshaka Dayaka Society where a meeting
was held presided over by Ven Kolonne Dhammasiri Thera, at the Dhamma
Shalawa to detail out to the MP of the requirements of Sri
Jayawardenarama Raja Maha Viharaya, Tharavilluwa, Battuluoya.
