Deyata Kirula Cycle Tour:

Sumanasekera wins second stage

BJ Sumanasekara (Sri Lanka Ports Authority) won the second stage of ‘Deyata Kirula Cycle Tour’.

The second stage commenced from Nawalapitiya and finished at Ratnapura yesterday. Sanath Abeysinghe and Samantha Lakmal of Sri Lanka Air Force completed the stage behind Sumanasekara. All three clocking 3 hours 2 minutes and 15 seconds. The Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage flagged off the second day’s race.

Few cyclists broke off from main bunch while riding on the down hill from Ginigathhena to Kitulgala.

The front riders consisted of first day’s top three posed a tough competition throughout the race.

But they failed to maintain their positions in the second stage.

The race proceeded through Ruwanwella, Eheliyagoda and to Ratnapura covering 124.9 kms.
