Opportunity for Army deserters

All officers and soldiers who are absent without leave while on active service in the Sri Lanka Army can leave the Army officially with clearance, Sri Lanka Army Headquarters said in a press release.

This is to coincide with the forthcoming Independence Day, from February 4 to 12. The absentees can report to their respective regimental headquarters and get the official clearance from the Army at special counters opened for this during the specified period. This should not be considered as a General Amnesty but a special concession for the absentees.
