The Minister said plans have now been drawn up to make the country self-sufficient in electricity by next year.

All these programs are designed to totally eliminate the bottle lamp from this country, he said.

He was addressing a gathering at the Ministry mobile service held at the Matugama Pradeshiya Sabha auditorium on Saturday.

Electricity mobile services will be launched to cover the whole country shortly to enable rural folk and city dwellers to find instant solutions to daily electricity problems.

This will also help consumers to minimize electricity wastage and cut down on excessive electricity bills, Ranawaka said.

The mobile service was organised by the Kalutara Electrical Engineers Office.
