Retail buying dominates bourse

The Colombo Bourse continued to be dominated by retail buying yesterday with some counters coming into the limelight based on earnings speculation.

Institutional investors took a quieter standing while showing interest in specific picks. The Food and Beverage and Poultry counters gained attention, while Plantation companies also caught investor interest owing to the high rubber prices that prevailed in the recent past. Foreign investor buying outdid selling to record a net foreign inflow of Rs 21.8 million.

Price losers outnumbered gainers 110 to 100.

The ASPI and the MPI saw a fairly dismal day, with the ASPI managing to close on a positive note up 15.90 points, but the MPI closed negative, down 12.99 points. BMS Daily Market Report
