Lak Sathosa to purchase vegetables
President Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed Lak Sathosa Chairman Nalin
Fernando to start purchasing vegetables directly from the farmers and
make them available in all Lak Sathosa branches from today.
The Presidential directive came in the wake of soaring vegetable
prices in the local market mainly due to the exploitation by middlemen.
This decision will help minimize the middleman’s intervention in the
determination of prices of vegetables in the local market and the
consumers will have access to fresh vegetables at cheaper rates.
The Sri Lanka Army started selling vegetables at different locations

vegetables available in the market.
