Giant pandas have undergone severe genetic bottleneck

Genetic bottleneck -

also known as population bottleneck, it is an evolutionary stage, when a significant number of the population of a certain species is prevented from reproducing.

This may be due to hunting, habitat loss or disease. When a population plummets, individuals may be forced to inbreed, reducing genetic diversity. This renders the newborn generations prone to disease, because the population lacks the necessary diversity to resist disease.

Examples for species that have undergone severe bottlenecks are Giant pandas and Cheetahs. Their bottleneck is so pronounced that a skin graft from one cheetah to another provokes no immune responses, such as rejection. They seem to be recovering, thanks to captive breeding programs. However their genetic diversity may be irreparably damaged.

Not only bats, some varieties of dolphins are also known to use echolocation

Echo location -

also known as biosonar, this technique is used by several animals such as microchiropteran bats and odontocetes - toothed whales and dolphins. It is also observed in simpler form in shrews and two cave dwelling bird groups, the cave swiftlets and the Oilbird. The term echolocation was coined by Donald Griffin, who, with Robert Galambos, proved its existence in bats in 1983.

Echolocating animals emit sounds and listen to the echoes of those calls that return from various objects in their environment. They use these echoes to locate and identify the objects. Echolocation is used for navigation and for foraging or hunting in various environments.

Savant syndrome -

if you have watched Rain Man then you know what a Savant is. Raymond played by Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man is a Savant. Savants are individuals with developmental disorders, but one or more areas of expertise, ability or brilliance.

While some people suffering from Savant Syndrome are autistic, others display developmental disabilities, mental retardation or injury. Something that all Savants possess is a prodigious memory. They can recall but have a hard time putting the memory to use. Many savants are found to have incredible artistic or musical ability.
