Series of ACBC programs

All Ceylon Buddhist Congress Chairman Jagath Sumathipala said that to mark the 2600th Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi the ACBC has organized a series of countrywide programs. About 16 types of Buddhist programs are planned to be implemented under this sacred event.

Centering Baudhaloka Mawatha in Colombo and Girihandu Seya in Trincomalee, the ACBC has drawn up a plan to launch the main religious activity. They have organized to hold 60 day religious walk as a countrywide program from July 01 in 2011.

The ACBC has planned to hold residential training programs for 500 monks to mark the Sri Sambuddhathwa Jayanthi. Holding a inter house sport meet with the participation of 17 children of orphanages run by the ACBC, opening of a new building of Baddegama monastery, conducting Dhamma school program to rehabilitate drug addicts, the establishment of a Vocational Training Centre at Kaluthara, conducting a religious activities every Poya Day and commencing hospital services are some of them.

A Buddhist Literature Ceremony, Katina Pinkam at the Mulagandhakuti temple in India, Commemoration Ceremony of Sangamiththa day are some of the programs already complete under this major program.
