'Neethiya' out today
Sarath Malalasekera
The maiden copy of "Neethiya", the only Sinhala Law Journal to be
published uninterrupted for the last 20 years will be presented to Chief
Justice Asoka de Silva at 3 pm today, January 27 at the Chief Justice's
Chambers by the Editorial Staff of Neethiya led by President's Counsel
Upali Gooneratne.
'Neethiya' commenced in 1990 as a Newsletter. Its inaugural issue was
launched by then Chief Justice Parinda Ranasinghe.
It was thereafter up-graded to a fully fledged Law Journal with its
10th Anniversary issue in 2000. Due to the dearth of legal publications
in Sinhala, 'Neethiya' has been in great demand among the legal
community, including practitioners, academics, Judges, law students, law
enforcement officers and others interested in the law, said President's
Counsel Gooneratne.
The present volume too is enriched with articles on a variety of
topics on the law written by distinguished specialists, well prepared
notes on recent court decisions, legal news, tables of cases and other
contents.
Its total expenses have been met solely by its Patron President's
Counsel Upali Gooneratne.
"Neethiya" will be available at the office of Neethiya Foundation,
Bar Association of Sri Lanka office and at the Law College bookshop. For
details please contact 2862233.
