The Prime Minister also calls for all to popularize Mahinda Chinthanaya among the people with a view of building up a prosperous future for Sri Lanka, which is already advancing towards development goals beating a 30 year old setback.

The PM said President Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled through his 'Mahinda Chinthanaya Manifesto' a set of proposals with a wide spectrum designed to take the country towards development. These proposals provide for the mechanism in obtaining the people's contribution for the development process as well as for necessary road maps to that end. He was careful not to include any impractical facts in the manifesto.

"Eventhough certain elements interpreted this manifesto as a 'political package' it has been proved by now that the President bears no such petty motive. There were numerous instances on which critical decisions were taken to secure political gains.

"In contrast the President has shown through this manifesto the way to establish a truly pragmatic vision that is quite far from such petty objectives," he said.

"At present new hopes have touched the hearts of all ethnic and religious groups and they are the results of a governance with proper management.

"We are already enjoining the benefits of a good leadership.

The Ministry of Buddha Sasana and Religious Affairs had taken measures to hold religious observances in all Buddhist temples as well as in other religious centres to mark the first anniversary of the re-election of Mahinda Rajapaksa to the Presidency.

In parallel, Special religious observances were also conducted at the Ambuluvava Bio diversity Complex and multi religious centre," the PM said.
