Brandix praised for blood donation campaign
The Brandix Group has been felicitated with a Token of Appreciation
by the National Blood Transfusion Service (NBTS) for supporting the
institution by organising a series of blood donation campaigns in
various areas of the country.
Brandix's 2010 blood donation program conducted in October and
November, resulted in donations by 2,000 associates and was the largest
program by a single entity in the year, the NBTS said. The Group's
contribution in 2010 exceeded that of its previous year by nearly 600
pints.
"Brandix associates have demonstrated their commitment to the
well-being of others through generous and compassionate contributions to
many social initiatives including blood donation campaigns," the Brandix
Group Chief People Officer (CPO) Ishan Dantanarayana said. "Their
response to the blood donation program of 2010, was unprecedented."
Representatives from Brandix, including associates from Brandix Denim
Plant and Brandix Textiles - the two largest contributors to the
campaign, and officials from the NBTS were present at the presentation
of the Token of Appreciation to Dantanarayana by National Blood
Transfusion Service Director Dr Ananda Gunasekera.
Dr Gunasekera commended Brandix on the massive effort which had taken
an estimated 1,000 man hours to complete. The Token of Appreciation
presented to Brandix read: "You who created wonders with your golden
needles and golden hands have proved that you also have a golden heart."
NBTS officials commented that the degree of organisation of Brandix's
blood donation program was exemplary and pointed out that they were able
to handle storage easily although stocks reached maximum levels since
the campaign was spread over two months.
