Raigam Tele’es expands horizons

Continuing their successful mission for the seventh consecutive year
the Kingdom of Raigam will host the Raigam Tele’es at the Sugathadasa
indoor Stadium on May 13. The significant aspect of this year’s awards
ceremony is the fact that the team had decided to broaden their list and
add a few more categories to their awards list.

Accolades will be handed over to the year’s best creative, dancing
and singing talents by evaluating the dancing, technical and multi
episode teledramas and single episode teledramas. News reporting, news
reading, current affairs, educational programs, musical programs,
reality shows and political discussions will also be adjudged.
This year showcases the seventh Raigam Tele Awards (now titled Raigam
Tele’es). Since then the award ceremony had come a long way, adding new
features to their event and bringing the best of tele talent to the
forefront. The team expect to take the awards ceremony to international
levels so that it will be renowned in the international entertainment
industry on par with other award ceremonies like the Grammy Awards and
Filmfare Awards.
Though the number of awards handed over at the Raigam Tele’es have
remained unchanged. Mega teledrama s will not be graded separately but
will fall under the multi episode teledramas.
“We have chosen to felicitate the teledramas and programs telecast in
all the local television channels from January 1 to December 31, 2010.
Those who had made lenthy teledramas can send 50 episodes chosen from
the beginning, middle and end to be adjudged for the award. If the jury
wishes to see more episodes, they will make a request. Programs telecast
on cable TV and dubbed teledramas will not be accepted. Comperes and
presenters will have to apply through the TV channel or independently,”
Raigam Managing Director Ganaka Amarasinghe explained.
He also added that applications can be collected form all the local
television stations and the Raigam Tele’es Secretariat. Closing date for
applications is on January 31.
One of the key factors of the awards ceremony is felicitating the
veterans with the Prathibha Prabha Award. This once in a lifetime award
was handed out to personalities like D B Nihalsinghe, Shan
Wickramasinghe, Titus Thotawatta and Sathischandra Edirisinghe in the
past years. The television channel with the most number of awards will
be named the Best TV Channle of the Year while awards like the Best
Teledrama,Director, Actor and Actress will follow. These will be
selected by the jury which consists of seven members. Prof Ajantha
Hapuaarachchi will lead the panel.
Fans will be able to pick the Most Popular Teledrama, Actor and
Actress via SMS votes. They are requested to type the name of the
teledrama add a space type the name of the actor/actress and send the
text to 0711950950 between April 1 and May 12. Two tickets will be
presented to 50 voters selected out of those who send the SMSs. The
winners will be notified through the same SMS number and they will be
able to obtain their printed invitation from the Raigam Tele’es
Secretariat by presenting the SMS send by Raigam.
Raigam Chairman Ravi Liyanage and Sampath Bank Deputy Managing
Director Aravinda Perera also spoke at the event. Sampth Bank and
Dazzling cosmetic products had joined hands with Raigam in showcasing
Raigam Tele’es 2011.
