Libyan team here to study education system
The Parliamentary delegation which visited Libya under the leadership
of Hambantota District Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa had discussions
with Libyan Leader Col Muammar Gadaffi, Prime Minister Baghdadi Mahmoudi
and other Ministers.
The delegation met and discussed bilateral issues with Health and
Environment Minister Mohamed Mahmoud Hijazi, Labour and Vocational
Minister Dr Al Amin Alumi, Education and Science Minister Dr Abdul Kabir
and Agriculture Minister Abdul Majeed Al Kir.
During the discussions with the Education Minister it was agreed to
send a Libyan delegation to study Sri Lanka's education system and
establish Education Research Centres in both countries. The discussions
with the Agriculture Minister centered mainly on assistance relating to
urea fertilizer, fisheries industry and establishing of boat
manufacturing facilities. Discussions with Health and Environment
Minister focused on obtaining Sri Lankan doctors, nurses and other
health staff to serve in Libya.
Discussions with the Labour Minister covered providing skilled and
unskilled Sri Lankan manpower supply to the Libyan construction industry
and other sectors.
The Sri Lankan delegation consisted Parliamentarians Namal Rajapaksa,
Sajin Vas Gunawardene, Duminda Silva, Lohan Ratwatte, Tharanath
Basnayake and Senior Assistant Secretary to the President Indika
Karunajeewa.
