EU higher education scholarship program:
Send proposals to form consortia
The European Union is asking for Proposals under the EU scholarship
program, Erasmus Mundus, which includes Sri Lanka.
Erasmus Mundus is a cooperation and mobility program in higher
education. Its goals are to enhance the quality of education and promote
dialogue between people and cultures through cooperation amongst
universities and research institutes of different countries.
The program offers scholarships to students, researchers and
university staff to carry out one or more semesters of study at
bachelor, master, doctoral or post-doctoral levels in European
universities. Assistance provided comprises integrated packages,
covering visas, travel and insurance costs.
Thanks to the 'Erasmus', participants can acquire valuable skills
that increase their future employability in a competitive,
knowledge-based society, while higher education institutions can
internationalise their teaching methods and services and build up
research and management capacities. Links to businesses are also created
in the process.
Courses will commence in June for the academic year 2011-2012.
Universities and Higher Education Institutes are encouraged to seek
partnerships and form consortia with their counterparts in the region
and in Europe. Closing date for receipt of proposals from Universities
and Institutes is April 29, 2011. Students at undergraduate, master,
doctorate and post doctorate level, as well as university staff will
apply directly to the partnerships and consortia once these are
constituted, and go through a competitive selection process organised by
the partners involved. A list of already constituted partnerships and
programs open for selection is available at the following address:
