Jaffna international trade fair opens
Business was opened to its people with ‘Jaffna International Trade
Fair 2011’ declared open yesterday.

Continuing with its second successful edition in 2011, the exhibition
will be opened for public at the ground next to Duraiappah Stadium from
10 am to 7 pm on 21, 22 and 23 January while daily musical shows will
add colour to life in Jaffna every evening.

Poornachandran, appreciated the efforts of the organizers including LECS,
FCCISL and CCIY.
Assuring the fullest support of the Chamber of Commerce in Yalpanam
for any business activity, he said the commitment to move along with the
future plans of the President and the Government.
Poornachandran also stressed on the encouraging words of President
Mahinda Rajapaksa during a recent visit to the region.
“President Rajapaksa expressing his views in a simple manner said
‘this is the time to develop Jaffna - so let’s go ahead and do whatever
possible to develop Jaffna’. So, the ‘JITF 2011’ is held at the right
time and Chamber of Commerce in Yalpanam would offer its utmost support
to business.
Commenting on a unique feature of this town, Poornachandran said,
Jaffna offers hassle free banking facilities to its customers in one
central location with 17 different local and international banks within
a radious of half a kilometre in town.

organizers for moving another step forward in 2011.
He stressed on the importance of going beyond the regular business
activities by venturing into long lasting business tie-ups between
Indian and Sri Lankan organizations, both could reach much mileage. He
also mentioned the strategic location of Jaffna peninsula which could
naturally help business growth creating links between India and Sri
Lanka, described the important facts of improving the Palali Airport as
a domestic airport giving easy passenger access and connecting both
countries by sea.
With the Bank of India looking to open its branch in Jaffna in the
near future this could help business with all financial assistance after
60 years in the northern peninsula.
The event would continue upto January 23, giving wide exposure to
business in Jaffna and its people. |
