Indonesia launches air-sea search

The Indonesian government has launched an air-sea search for the Sri
Lankan fishing trawler 'Sankara Putha - 02' following Sri Lankan
government informing them of the vessel's disappearance in the
international seas off Indonesian shores.
Indonesian Ambassador to Sri Lanka Djafar Husein, said at a meeting
with Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister Dr Rajitha Senaratna, that
they had launched a naval and coast guard rescue operation in search of
the missing vessel and its four men on board . The meeting was held on
Thursday at the Ministry. Husein said that a naval ship and a helicopter
were deployed by the Indonesian Government to track down the vessel. He
said the ship and helicopter search for the vessel would continue.
"The Indonesian government is pleased to extend its co-operation and
assistance to the Sri Lankan government," he said adding, it would be of
great importance if Sri Lanka and Indonesia has a joint fisheries
program that would strengthen fisheries of both countries.
Minister Senaratna thanking the Indonesian Government for the
assistance extended, said that the Sri Lankan government was grateful
for their efforts.
