Man with many talents

Unity and close cooperation among different races and religions in a society is the key to the development and progress of any country. Some people try their best to establish unity in society in a voluntary manner.

Fifty-eight-year-old Hameed A Cafoor a key cutter from Asgangula close to Eheliyagoda town is one such individual who disregards ethnic, religious, political or any other differences when attending to social service based activities.

Though Caffoor is a devout Muslim he respects other religions alike. He takes part in temple activities and delivers lectures depicting facts from the 'Pansiya Panas Jathaka' stories etc.

His knowledge of classical Sinhala literature is marvellous. Caffoor is a very good artist and uses his ball-point pen to sketch various things.

He also edited an estate sector 'tabloid' newspaper that helped develop the lifestyle of the estate sector community.

Being a collector of brazen lamps, he possess a handsome collection of precious brazen utensils.

Caffoor is also an active member of Eheliyagoda Mediation Board.
