Under President’s leadership:

Lanka will prosper- Zardari

Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Sri Lanka was able to eradicate the scourge of terrorism due to the dynamic and charismatic leadership of President Mahinda Rajapaksa. He has said Sri Lanka is on the path of prosperity under the able leadership of President Rajapaksa.

The Pakistani President made these observations when he met high level delegation led by Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa in Pakistan recently. The Pakistani Government has sought assistance from Sri Lanka to quell the shortage of mathematic teachers in his country. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa said that he would inform the Government of the Pakistan’s request. Speaker Chamal Rajapaksa thanked the Pakistani government for supporting to Sri Lanka in times of need.

According to a member of the delegation and Parliamentarian A H M Azwer, the Pakistani President has made special mention of Sri Lanka’s high literacy rate.

Azwer said the Pakistani delegation led by President Asif Ali Zardari stressed the importance of more closer ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The Pakistan President said that Sri Lanka has achieved tremendous growth after the end of war, Azwer said.

President Zardari said that his country likes to resume the test series with the Sri Lankan team. He was of the view that cricket would forge more closer cooperation between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, Azwer added.

The Sri Lankan delegation visited Taxila, the ancient Buddhist monastery. They also visited the Waga border, Azwer added.

Chairman of Pakistan-Sri Lanka Friendship Association and Senior Minister A H M Fowzie was among the delegation.
