Police storm illegal abattoir

Four persons have been taken into police custody for their alleged involvement of slaughtering animals in a secret slaughter house inside a spacious house in Kandy for sometime.

Police also took into custody three slaughtered goats and meat found in the slaughter house.

The police saved two goats kept in a secret room of the house where they were killing the animals.

Police investigations revealed that the animals such as cattle and goats killed in the secret placed were being supplied to supermarkets and luxury hotels.

The police also said that as this house was situated near a Buddhist religious place there had been no suspicion whatsoever as to the existence of a slaughter house and therefore the culprits were in a position to carry on their work without any suspicion. Chief Police Inspector Priyantha Kulasekera with a police team made this detection on the instructions of Senior DIG Central Province Gamini Navaratne.
