Mexico drug violence kills 11
MEXICO: At least 11 people were killed Tuesday and Wednesday in the
northern Mexican state of Chihuahua in drug related bloodletting, state
officials said.
Chihuahua, which borders the US state of Texas and includes the
crime-plagued city of Ciudad Juarez, has the highest figures of criminal
violence linked to the illegal drug trade, according to government
figures.
Six people were killed in Ciudad Juarez, across the border from El
Paso, Texas, Chihuahua state officials.
The city, with a population of some 1.2 million, reported more than
3,200 homicides in 2010, making it one of the deadliest in the world.
The victims included two men shot dead when they walked in downtown
Ciudad Juarez, and another who died when assailants hurled a Molotov
cocktail at his car, officials said. Ciudad Juarez, Thursday, AFP |
