Show compassion for weather-beaten

Health Minister Maithripala Sirisena has made an appeal to the public to provide assistance to the people displaced by the floods. He urged the general public to help flood victims in Polonnaruwa, Batticoloa, Ampara and Jaffna by providing with drinking water, clothing, mats, milk, mosquito coils, bedsheets and food items with immediate effect.

The torrential rains and strong winds lashing the country in the past few days have displaced people in the Eastern, North central and Central provinces and destroyed paddy fields. The Minister further said Sri Lankan people are well-known for their generosity and kindness in times of crises so we appeal the people in other areas to assist these affected people who are at displaced centres now. This is the time we need the assistance of the people to help victims.
