BIA facilities being improved

Facilities are being improved at the Bandaranaike International Airport so as to serve foreigners and locals better, an Airport and Aviation Services official said.

Several changes are being carried out at the Emigration and Immigration sections and arrival and departure lounges. The counter arrangement at certain sections including the arrival and departure lounges has been changed with redesigned furniture.

These steps are being taken aimed at ensuring passenger comfort since it has been observed that the counter arrangement has caused various discomfort to visitors. It has also been observed that there are long queues on some occasions. Seating capacity will also be increased significantly.

"As a result of the increased tourist arrivals at the BIA, more facilities are to be added to make visitors comfortable", the official said.
