Infant found in traveling bag

A two-month-old infant was found inside a traveling bag at the Haputale Railway Station on Wednesday around 7am.

Police removed the male infant to the Panketiya Hospital and later transferred to the Diyatalawa Hospital.

Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said that it is suspected that the infant had been abandoned by a person who came in the Badulla bound train from Colombo. A Police team led by Crime OIC of Bandarawela Police IP Priyanka Kumara is conducting investigations under the direction of OIC IP Bandara and SP Ranasinghe.
