Bolt announces 200m Bislett Games run

Usain Bolt has announced that he will run in the 200m at the Bislett Games in Oslo on June 09.

The Diamond League meeting is the world champion's first confirmed meeting of the 2011 season after he struggled with an Achilles tendon injury during 2010.

"As this is a World Championship year, every meet is important to me in my build-up to defending my titles, " said the 24-year-old.

Bolt is expected to defend his 100m and 200m world titles this summer.

The world and Olympic record holder over both sprint distances had a forgettable 2010 campaign, suffering a rare defeat to fierce rival Tyson Gay in Stockholm in August.

Bolt conceded he was not fit and was struggling with back pain in addition to his Achilles tendon problem.

However, the Jamaican said: "My preparations have gone really well, the injury problem I had during the summer is fully healed and my training has gone according to plan."

Bolt hopes to add to his three world titles at the World Championships this summer and stated:

"My competition at Bislett and several other Diamond League meets throughout the season will be an important stepping stone towards that goal." BBC
