International conference for Buddhist reawakening

An International Conference has been announced to ensure a
reawakening of the Buddhist activities in Sri Lanka.
This will coincide with the 2600 Sambuddha Jayanthi.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister D M Jayaratne at the
Prime Minister's Office yesterday.
French Buddhist Society President Ven Dr Thampalawela Dharmaratana
Thera will be the conference Chairman while the Los Angeles Buddhist
Society Chairman Godakalane Gunaratana Thera will function as the
conference Secretary.
This Buddhist conference will find ways and means to inject new life
to Buddhist activities in the island.
They are also entrusted with the noble task to propagate Buddha,
Dhamma throughout the world. Also present at the discussion were
Mahabodhi Society in India General Secretary Venerable Dodamgoda Revatha
Thera, Sri Lanka International Cultural Centre in Japan Director
Venerable Pelpola Vipassi, Stockholm Buddhist Centre in Sweden Chairman
Venerable Kirindigalle Dhammaratana Thera, Ven Bodagama Chandima Thera,
Prime Minister's Secretary S Amerasekera and Public Trustee Sarath
Seneveratne.
