All set for Deyata Kirula in Buttala

Arrangements are in place for the 2011 Deyata Kirula exhibition which
will be held in Buttala, Moneragala in line with the Independence Day
celebrations, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister
Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said.

The Deyata Kirula exhibition will be held from February 4 to 10.
Prior to the exhibition, several development activities were carried out
throughout the Moneragala district.
The government has allocated Rs 10,000 million for the development
activities in the health, Education and social sectors.
"The entire district has been brought under a massive infrastructure
development drive. A number of hospitals in the district are being
renovated together with several other activities. Deyata Kirula is not
mere an exhibition but brings the development to the country, especially
to the village," Minister Siyambalapitiya said.
Monaragala was selected as the venue for Deyata Kirula since the
development ratio is around five percent, Development ratio in other
districts is around eight percent, the Minister said.
Of the Rs 10,000 million the Government has allocated Rs 4,000
million to develop roads and highways, Rs 1,000 million for rural
electrification, Rs 500 million for water supply and Rs 1,000 million
develop telecommunication and technology sector. The rest will be spent
on of the infrastructure projects.
Udawalawa - Tanamalwila road is being constructed under road
development initiatives. The Government has allocated Rs 786 million for
road development which is 40.5 kilometer in length. The road will be
commissioned before January 31. 2011 In addition many roads are being
constructed and renovated, he said.
The Buttala District hospital is also being renovated. Several rural
electrification projects are also under way. Initiatives are being taken
to create a better market for agricultural products of Uva Wellassa. The
ultimate aim is to upgrade the living standards of the people in the
area, the Minister said.
Sixteen water supply schemes and self employment projects for 12,000
Samurdhi families are among such major development projects.
In addition, several pipe-Borne water schemes benefiting 400
households have been implemented with community participation. Micro
finance system has been introduced for Samurdhi recipients for
commencing self employment.
Many dry lands will be irrigated by several small scale irrigation
projects. Under this the Udawewa tank and a few other tanks will be
renovated to fulfill the needs of 500 farmer families and to cultivate
650 acres of paddy lands.
On President Mahinda Rajapaksa's advice the construction of a pagoda
in the ancient Yudaganawa Raja Maha Vihara is in progress. The
"Dharmasalawa" has already been constructed so as to symbolises the
glory of the past.
The Minister further said that, the entrance for exhibition is free
for students while elders have to obtain a Rs 20 lottery for the
entrance. Many Government institutes will make the visitors aware at the
exhibition. The Security Forces will also have a stall to exhibit
military equipment. As usual, it has been expected that many visitors
will be attracted to the Media Section which will be established in the
Dayata Kirula venue. Therefore, the Deyata Kirula Exhibition will be a
novel experience for the visitors to gather knowledge.
In line with the exhibition, four main sports events will be held
from February 4. Accordingly, netball, kabadi, volleyball and bicycle
