Soul Sounds
Premier female ensemble Soul Sounds begin the year with a 'Song of
Thanksgiving,' concert featuring their extensive gospel repertoire at
the Lionel Wendt Theatre on January 16, 7.30 pm. The concert promises
lovers of spiritual and gospel music an evening of quality
entertainment. This will be a concert with a difference because the
audience will also be given the opportunity of selecting some of the
repertoire they would like to hear the choir sing.
Prof Marl Wilson is conductor of UC Berkeley Gospel Choir, California
and has been Guest conductor of Soul Sounds concerts over the past three
years. Under his direction, the repertoire of this all- girl choir has
expanded substantially, and their renditions of hymns, spirituals and
gospel favorites have been acknowledged hits at their international
tours.
Their most recent tour to the USA saw the choir singing in churches
in New York and Los Angeles, where these well known gospel songs were
received by a very appreciative congregation.
Prof Wilson will not be present at the concert this year, however,
due to personal reasons. But, following their successful US tour during
which they sang in churches and concert halls in the US, the choir will
feature some of their best gospel repertoire sung over three years of
training.
