Alleged mass grave:

Investigators await forensic report

The forensic reports on ash exhumed from an alleged mass grave of Military and Navy personnel calls for further investigations, Police Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said.

He also told the Daily News that the ash was exhumed last month from an alleged mass grave located in Kilinochchi. He added that the ash were suspected to be of sixty Army and Navy personnel who were killed and burnt by LTTE cadres.

The investigations were initiated following the confession of four hardcore LTTE cadres arrested in Vavuniya that 60 soldiers who were held in LTTE custody were executed by them during the last days of the humanitarian operation.

He said that the ash was sent to forensic testing and so far the reports have not been received to continue the investigations. (skm)
